You've Come a Long Way, Guy
A long, long, time ago, before political correctness, I worked with an editor who allowed us to use any color as long as it was red or blue. Black was "too funereal"; green and brown were "not primary enough"; yellow was primary, but too light; pink, of course, was girlie; and purple was "the gay color." It might be hard now to imagine that kind of color dogma, but we're talking Corporate America about a decade before Ralph Lauren's Purple Label even launched.
So when the new Saks men's catalog arrived, I couldn't help imagining his encounter with "Guy Stuff." The question is, has he caught up with the times, or does he think there's just a big spelling mistake on the cover?
